Practice Room and Classroom Use Rules for Music Study
General Practice Rooms Access & Policy
Practice rooms are reserved for students enrolled in MUSC or MUSA courses. Once enrolled in these courses, please visit the Card Services Office to let them know which course you are enrolled in and request access to the practice rooms.
Note: Food and drink are strictly prohibited in the practice rooms. Please do not leave personal belongings in the practice rooms or rehearsal spaces.
The second floor of Booth Hall is currently under construction. At the time, we have the following practice rooms available for use:
- Booth 223A
- Booth 223B
- Thorne 9 (2 practice rooms)
- Thorne 7 (3 practice rooms)
- Thorne 8 - Percussion Studio (By permission only - open only to students taking MUSC or MUSA courses for Drum Set, Afro-Cuban Drumming, or Percussion)
Practice rooms are generally open 24-hours a day, 7-days a week. However, there are times that they are blocked off due to events requiring silence, piano tunings, or rehearsals. For these situations, we place notices on the practice room doors. The general availability for Thorne 8 (Percussion Studio) is be listed below.*

- Sunday - Open
- Monday - Open before 11:30am and after 2:00pm
- Tuesday - Open before 11:30am, from 3:30pm-7:00pm, after 9:00pm
- Wednesday - Open before 11:30am and after 2:00pm
- Thursday - Open before 11:30am, from 2:00pm-5:30pm, after 7:00pm
- Friday - Open before 11:30am and after 2:00pm
- Saturday - Open
Access During Scholarship Audition & Lesson Placement Preparation
At the beginning of the academic year, practice rooms are open to all students planning to audition for ensembles and scholarships or placement for lessons. If you are planning to participate in an audition or placement, please go to the Card Services Office and let them know that you need practice room access in preparation for your audition/lesson placement.
